Anton Ropers Passion and Poissan (March 2018) Medium: V5 &V7 Pen, Charcoal, and Crayon on Paper Dimensions: 40*80 cm Society creates social personas we grasp in order to avoid personal growth. This creates superficial depictions of ourselves, fueling depression and mental illness. Inspired by Basquiat and Egon Schiele, I used rough textures, dynamic lines, and contrast rich imagery to symbolize the innocence of children and its oxymoronic contrast to our societal standards as adults. Passion is a symbol of forced personalities, which choke the dark figures, showing that our passion is our “poissan”.
