Ignorance
Anton Ropers Ignorance (March 2018) Medium: Barbie dolls (Mattel Inc. 1959), Digital Illustration Dimensions: 100*30 cm (4052 × 1971 pixels) This piece is about how society is growing desensitized, numb and ignorant through the over amplification of media. Inspired through Jack and Dinos Chapman, the contrast of three-dimensional objects and typography allude to the plasticization of knowledge. “Baby on board” is a symbol of an over recycled icon which fades progressively as society grows more superficial (dolls). Yellow is symbolic of the ‘brighter future’ which is fueled by digital media, whilst blue is the distant outdated past.
